JD Collier
Having made his transition after 8 years of active duty service to civilian life and after succeeding in Corporate America over the past 20 years, JD Collier has seen first-hand the struggles and triumphs of Life Beyond service. He personally feels he could have made better choices in roles pursued; especially during the initial transition from service. If during that initial, tentative, vulnerable state during his transition, he had been able to confide in an organization which offered services with his best longer-term interests in mind (versus only the interests of the hiring corporations and military transition firms), JD Collier feels that he would have made better career choices to begin with. Further, during the years that followed and the several job transitions, JD Collier would expect similar confidential career services to be beneficial to advancing his own career success. When the individual succeeds, the company succeeds. Not only can the individual employees benefit from these services, but companies can remain strong and growing when staffed by strong and growing employees.
As a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, JD Collier entered Navy service headed for the Nuclear Submarine force. After a year of nuclear training, he transferred to the Navy’s Construction Force as a contract administrator and project manager in the Norfolk Virginia area. Two years later, Lieutenant Collier moved to Williamsburg, Virginia to become the Public Works Officer at the Navy Supply depot called Cheatham Annex. Then in late 1999, LT Collier embarked on an operational role with the U.S. Navy Seabees in Gulfport Mississippi. A member of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Seven, LT Collier started his Seabees tour in Okinawa, Japan for their western Pacific deployment. The next deployment occurred in late 2000 in the Caribbean basin where LT Collier served as Joint Task Force Commander on a humanitarian construction deployment-for-training to St. Vincent & the Grenadines (just north of Venezuela). After 8 years of active duty commissioned service, LT Collier got out of the Navy and entered Corporate America in early 2002. He has held several operations and sales roles in logistics and construction with 4 different companies over the past 20 years and has lived in The Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania with his family for the past 15 years. JD Collier’s bride of 29 years, Amy hails from Allentown and they have 3 wonderful children.
